31 Days of HELL-O-Ween 2024:
The Crimson Ghost (1946)
"The Crimson Ghost" was a Republic Serial--a series of short chapters they would usually play before the main movie started. It's a twelve chapter story involving criminal dressed as The Crimson Ghost attempting to steal a device which can fry every electrical circuit; I guess it was a proto-EMP.
Being a serial, several times it would end with the protagonist being run off the road and over a cliff in his car and having it explode on impact with the "See what happens next episode!" Of course, the next episode would show him jumping from his car at the last moment just before it went over the cliff (and one of the things that Kathy Bates character in "Misery" was absolutely right when talking about serials in front of movies: They cheat!). It amused me how often it happened in the series.
Of course, most people know "The Crimson Ghost" from the punk band, the Misfits, using it as part of their iconography.

STEP ONE: Here are the quick pencils done with colored pencil on 8-1/2" x 11" extra-heavy toned cardstock.

STEP TWO: Here's the first pass with Acrylic paint. Well, more like two passes worth... I was on a roll and kept going further before stopping and scanning the painting.

STEP THREE: And here's the finished painting--mostly just touch-ups and such from the pervious painting.
