Grandmaster
Here is the original entry for Grandmaster in the "Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe".

And, here's my version... Hey, it's another posting for the Handbook of the Marvel Universe: Redux Blog! It's been a while, but there are a few entries still left to do, so I grabbed a few to finish up. It feels good to be working those muscles again. And, I have such a deep, abiding affection for the original "Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe" that I had to do more when the opportunity presented itself. And here we are.

STEP ONE: Because I'm a genius, I accidentally painted over the digital pencils I had done. So, here's the grayscale painting. I did on a 900px x 1350px NEW document.

STEP TWO: Over a MULTIPLY Layer, I added the flat colors; then on a NEW Layer above that, I added highlights and shadows.

This was done digitally in Photoshop.

You know, I've never been the comic book connoisseur you are, but even I got excited about the Marvel Handbook when we were kids and I still get a "this is so cool" thrill seeing today. I went to the New Handbook site and paged through your entries. I'm impressed.
ReplyDeleteYour change to the Loki picture literally made me LOL.
Yo Jack, :-)
DeleteAs always, thanks for the kind words. I'm a sucker for all those encyclopedias, manuals, and various collections of information. Hmmm, now that I think about it, it also ties into my love of all those D&D books from back in the day. Same sort of collected repository of info that you can randomly dip into.
Growing up, I'd waste inordinate amounts of time poring through "The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe", DC Comics' "Who's Who", various D&D manuals, and such. Ah, yes!
Yeah, the Loki joke was sorta obvious giving the nature of the character, but I'm always one to point out the obvious. I shall wear your literal LOL as a badge of honor. :-D
